Both types of payments are available for clients with the Custom plan only. If you want to try it out, please, contact your account manager.

How to set up the CPC type

CPC (cost per click) - the sum of money paid by the advertiser per one click. In Affise, you can set it up here: the Offers section -> a certain offer -> the Payouts tab.

Numbers set up in the Revenue and Payouts fields mean the fixed amount of money paid per one click.

It isn't possible to set up a goal value and title if the CPC type is chosen.

You can select what the advertiser will pay for: clicks or hosts. Here you can learn more about how Affise defines the uniqueness of clicks. Go to the Settings section -> the Settings pane -> Tracking and Trafficback.

How it works:

  1. The click comes.
  2. The system checks all the reasons for sending it to the trafficback, including targeting groups and the Send hosts only flag (here you can read more about this option.) If there are no reasons, the next step is performed.
  3. The system checks settings in the CPC is based on field (see the screenshot above).
  4. The system checks all the payouts in the offer. Check the article to know more about payouts selection.
    1. If there is no appropriate payout, the click/host will be registered, but unpaid.
    2. If there is at least one appropriate payout, the click/host will be registered, and the cost will be assigned to it.

import.png CPC works only for new clicks/hosts. It doesn't assign the cost to clicks/hosts had come before the type of payment was set up.

How to set up the CPM type

CPM (cost per mils) - the sum of money paid by the advertiser per 1000 impressions. In Affise, you can set it up here: the Offers section -> a certain offer -> the Payouts tab.

CPM.jpeg

Numbers set up in the Revenue and Payouts fields mean the fixed amount of money paid per 1000 impressions.

The example:

Revenue = 1$

Impressions = 1900

Total revenue = 1.9$

Formula: (1900 * 1$ / 1000 = 1,9$)

It isn't possible to set up a goal value and title if the CPC type is chosen.

How it works:

  1. The impression comes.
  2. The system checks all the reasons for not recording it. See the article to find the list of such reasons.
  3. The system checks all the payouts in the offer. Check the article to know more about payouts selection.
    1. If there is no appropriate payout, the impression will be registered, but unpaid.
    2. If there is at least one appropriate payout, the impression will be registered, and the cost will be assigned to it.

FAQ

1) Can I edit the revenue in Statistics after the cost was assigned to a click/host/impressions?

No, it isn't possible to change the sum of revenue shown in Statistics. The cost is assigned to a click/host/impressions once they're registered in the system. You can't change it after registration.

2) The advertiser wants to pay for impressions, while I want to pay the affiliate for the conversions. How should I set up payouts?

You should set up two payouts:

  • For the 1st one select the CPM type, set the sum of money for Revenue, set Payouts as 0.
  • For the 2nd one select the CPA type, set Revenue as 0, set the sum of money for Payouts.

Once an impression fits the payout, the cost will be assigned to it, but no money will be paid to the affiliate. Once a conversion from the affiliate fits the payout, the cost will be assigned to it and will be paid to the affiliate.

3) I turned on the Send hosts only flag for the advertiser. CPC is based on clicks. How does it work together?

The advertiser won't have any revenue, because money is supposed to be assigned to clicks only. In case of this particular advertiser, clicks go to trafficback. The system doesn't register it.

4) If I set up a cap with the Payout type, which types of payments will be counted?

All types of payments are counted.

5) Do Commission tiers work with CPC/CPM types of payment?

No, Commission tiers don't support both payment models.
