What is the Default Goal Overcap?
Default Goal Cap should be used if you want to receive traffic only for one goal and to pass the rest of traffic to Trafficback by rules set up for Trafficback (Fallback, Return URL) and its priority.

Why is it useful for an Affise client?
It is the right way to use the Trafficback feature in terms of goals. There is an Overcap option in the Caps section, which works only for Goal=All. And now, there is a Default Goal Cap, which allows us to use of Overcap when Goal=Select. You may choose the option depending on your business purpose.
Default Goal Cap is available for all plans.
How does it look like in Affise?
Default Goal Cap option can be set up in Offer edit page: Admin panel -> Offer -> Edit -> 'Caps' Tab -> 'Caps' field:
The goals in the fields ‘Goal’ and ‘Default goal overcap’ are depicted according to goal values and goal titles set up in the general payouts. If you have both goal value and goal title - you will see goal title in the dropdown menu. If you have only the goal value - this very goal value will be depicted.
You can set up just the Default Goal Cap in the offer, along with other rules regardless of their settings.
How does it work?
Default Goal Cap work depends on the set of rules already set up in the offer. Generally, when the cap is reached (there are enough conversions with the default cap) - traffic will be redirected to the Trafficback regardless of the goal users want to perform.
Let’s look at the simplest version of cap rules:
In this case, once Affiliate #2 gets 4 conversions for the goal ‘1’, all traffic from this Affiliate will go to Trafficback. Traffic for other Affiliates will be sent to the offer until there are a total of 10 conversions (including 4 for Affiliate #2).
The only case when the Affise Client still can see conversions registered as Declined with the comment [Cap is reached] - the conversion was made for the old click. It means the click was sent to the offer, the conversion was made, but the postback for the conversion came after the Default Goal Cap had been reached.
Mind the cache, which takes 5-6 minutes. Each rule has its cache: after reaching the first cap, the first cache will work, after reaching the second cap the second cache will work: there could be a time gap between two caps depending on the order of cap reaching.
What else do you need to know before launching Default Goal Cap?
There is a specific peculiarity of Default Goal Cap work: the rule ‘Goal=Select, Affiliate=All/Each’.
Let’s take a look at two cases:
- In the first one, such a rule is the only rule in the offer:
In this case, once Affiliate #1 generates 10 conversions for goal 1, other Affiliates won’t be able to send traffic to this offer at all, even the offer has more than one goal, and they want to send traffic for other goals as well. Once Affiliates #1 and #2 generates 10 conversions together - the same will happen regardless of which goal they will send traffic for.
If the offer initially has two goals, the cap will be reached when there are 10 conversions only for goal 1 (chosen as a default one). Then all traffic from all Affiliates will be sent to Trafficback.
2. In the second case, we have two rules:
The logic is the same: once Affiliate #1 generates 2 conversions with goal 1, his traffic will be sent to Trafficback. This will happen with all other Affiliates who generate 2 conversions with goal 1 each. Once the first rule is reached, no other Affiliates will be able to send traffic to the offer at all - it will go to Trafficback.
1) If the offer has two or more goals and I set up Default Goal Cap rule, will the system take another goal into account when deciding where to send traffic to?
No. As we can’t define the goal on the level of click, once the Default Goal Cap is reached, the traffic from Affiliate (depends on the rule for Affiliate) will go to Trafficback regardless of which goal could be done by this click in the future.
2) What is the difference between Affiliate=Each/All and Affiliate=Select when setting up Default Goal Cap?
Affiliate=Select: after reaching Default Goal Cap rule, the traffic of the selected Affiliate will go to Trafficback. Traffic from other Affiliates will go to the offer. If there is the bigger cap rule for other Affiliates for Goal=All/Each after reaching it, the traffic will go to the Trafficback.
Affiliate=All/Each: after reaching the Default Goal Cap, the traffic of all Affiliates will go to Trafficback regardless of the goal users would like to perform. In this case, the Overcap will work for all Affiliates and any goals.
3) Is there any difference between the priority matrix in the case when there is no Default Goal Cap and in the case when there is such a rule?
Here you can find the priority matrix for goal rules, which don’t contain the Default Goal Cap.
The difference is observed when there is the following set of rules in the offer:
When there is no Default Goal Cap rule in the offer, the system will allow the selected Affiliate in the second rule to reach 5 more conversions than it is allowed for other Affiliates. But when there is a Default Goal for the Goal=Select, the Affiliate selected in the second rule will send the traffic to the Trafficback URL.
